Castello dei Canonici is situated in a hamlet of Camaiore in the province of Lucca. Recently restored, furnished in contemporary style and equipped with technological systems of the highest quality, this property has several hectares of land, covered with olive groves and woodland, ancient ruins and terraced paths.
The heated infinity swimming pool is a short walk up behind the house, along with stunning 270-degree views from Florence to the islands of the Tuscan coast. The swimming pool is unfenced; for this reason children under six years old are not permitted.
For those who choose to rest and truly relax, Castello dei Canonici is extremely private as it has no direct neighbors. But if you do fancy a short walk down the driveway, there is a small bar in the tiny hamlet which is open during summer evenings and is popular with the locals.
If you like to explore, there are lots of things to do within easy reach. Around the property, there are many wonderful areas to walk in the surrounding hills. The village is also a popular stop en-route for serious cyclists and there are many clearly marked bike trails. The beaches are just 20 minutes away, including chic Forte Di Marmi and the marvelous lidos of Viareggio, with its glorious Belle Epoque architecture and wonderful seafood restaurants. Florence is less than an hour away, and the Garfagnana, with its stunning National Park, is just to the North.
Please note: from the parking of the nearby village there is a steep and narrow road of about 400 mts going up to the villa. This road is only accessible by a small 4x4 (like Fiat Panda or similar).The guests of the villa can park the car at this parking lot.
The local caretaker can assist at no charge with transportation of luggage and groceries from the parking area to the villa using a small tractor.
Due to the nature of the property, it is not recommended for families with children under the age of six years old or to those with mobility issues, as the walk from the car park to the villa is 400 meters uphill.
Please also note that there is a frescoed private chapel off the back hall with a recording studio (this can be made available by separate negotiation).
